In 2005, having completed a number of Channel swim relays for charity, Credit Suisse challenged Morgan Stanley to a Channel Swim race. Looking for an even bigger challenge, the athletes took inspiration from the original Enduroman, Eddie Ette - the first man to complete a solo triathlon from Marble Arch to the Arc de Triomphe in 2001 – and the Enduro Challenge was born.

The race has attracted more participants from the City each year: Barclays Capital and Deutsche Bank joined the Enduro Challenge in 2006, followed by UBS in 2007, Tudor Capital in 2008 and Société Générale joined this year. Credit Suisse has won the trophy in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2009. Morgan Stanley won the trophy in 2008.

The fundraising potential of the event continues to grow, with over £700,000 raised for charities across the UK since the Challenge began in 2005. Although five teams competed in the 2010 Challenge, eight teams is the absolute limit for the event due to the availability of specialist Channel swimming pilots in Dover.

The competitive spirit between the participating teams makes the coveted trophy as desirable as ever.
